The Marshall Herd Football twitter
account (@HerdFB) tweeted out a head-hurting amount of rankings today. The Herd
Football might be 2-2 on the season, but the team is leaving an impression on
the nation in a completely different way.
Nationally, the Herd is ranked 5th
in first downs with 110, 10th in passed intercepted on defense with
6. Individually Cato is 9th in scoring responsibility with 72
points, leads CUSA in pass average per game, and total offense.
Blake Fronapfel leads in pass efficiency.
Tight End Gator Hoskins is 9th
in the country in receiving touch downs. Kicker Haig also leads in scoring on
kicks.
Tommy Shuler is tied for 2nd
in nation for receptions and is 19th overall in receiving yards at
367.
The Herd as a whole leads C-USA
in scoring offense, scoring defense, passing offense, total offense, total
defense, pas defense, and first downs. Herd also leads the nation in scrimmage
plays that have gone for at least 10 yards (84) and is 3rd in total
scrimmage plays (334).
Right now the Herds record shows
they are 2-2, however the stats say otherwise. The team has put forth great
performances overall and individually making it almost impossible to be upset
as a fan. This week is a bye week and conference play starts the following
week. For the first time in several years, I believe the Herd is not only the
best team in the conference, but that they will be the second Marshall
University program to bring home a Conference title.
